David Herron is a champion for high performance design. Through education, advocacy, and code development, he has advanced sustainable, energy efficient, building design. In practice, he has created performance driven architecture that embodies design excellence.

Mr. Herron’s 30+ year career is about the pursuit of design excellence and service to the profession.

Over the course of his career, his contributions to projects have led to professional accolades at a local, regional and national level.

AIA NATIONAL: COLLEGE OF FELLOWS

In 2024, Mr. Herron was elevated to the College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects. AIA Fellows are recognized with AIA's highest membership honor for their exceptional work and contribution to architecture and society.  This honor is only bestowed upon 3% of the profession.

AIA-KC: GOLD MEDAL

In 2021, Mr. Herron was awarded the AIA - Kansas City Gold Medal. The Gold Medal Award recognizes an AIA - Kansas City member for longstanding, distinguished leadership and dedication to architecture, the profession, and the community. The award is the chapter’s highest honor. This award shines a spotlight on a member who, by his or her example and service, has made significant contributions to the advancement of the profession and to the community.

AIA-KC: VOLUNTEER AWARD

In 2022, Mr. Herron, as part of a select group of architects, received the AIA-Kansas City Chapter Volunteer Award. The Volunteer Award is awarded to an AIA-Kansas City member(s) who have shown exceptional support and made significant contributions to the chapter.

Mr. Herron has lived and practiced in New York City, Phoenix, Dallas and Kansas City and is a graduate of Kansas State University.
